NASSThe Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, eventually found his way into the chambers of the House of Representatives after an attempt to prevent him from entering the House failed.

The House reconvened today for an emergency session to consider President Goodluck Jonathan’s request for an extension of the state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

After initial attempts by the police and operatives of the State Security Services to stop the Speaker from entering the chambers to preside over plenary, he was eventually “smuggled” into the chamber by his colleagues. The House members are presently in an executive session.

Zakari Mohammed, Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Publicity, is expected to address the press after the executive session.

It is alleged that a high ranking officer of the Presidency ordered the action. David Mark, Senate President is also said to be angry that he was kept in the dark about the action.
