Pakistan: Karachi Airport Attacked Again By Militants

For the second time in two days, Karachi Airport, Pakistan is forced to shut down after militants again, launched attack on airport security forces.

The attack, which took place earlier on Tuesday, was targeted at the Airport Security Forces academy near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, the airport’s manager said.

It could not be immediately ascertained how many casualties were recorded in course of the attack.

“This wave of attacks will be continuing in retaliation for the shelling and atrocities of the government,” Shahidullah Shahid spokesman for Pakistani Taliban said by phone after the incidence from an undisclosed location while claiming the group’s responsibility for the onslaught.

A group of armed militants numbering up to ten had stormed the same airport’s cargo area last Sunday night, leading to an hours-long siege that led to the death of over 35 people.

The Pakistani Taliban also claimed responsibility for that assault, saying the attack was launched in retaliation for the death of former chief Hakimullah Mehsud, killed in a U.S. drone strike in November, 2013.
