Paul Lambert, Aston Villa manager, has signed a contract extension until June 2018 following the club’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
Lambert took charge at Villa Park in June 2012 finishing 15th in both seasons. Having won three out of four this season, he said, “I’m determined that we continue building the club to where we all want it to be. We can look to the future with real optimism.”
Lambert told BBC Sport in May that despite a difficult campaign last season, he would remain as Villa manager at least until the club is sold.
The 45-year-old manager has since strengthened his squad with a number of signings both within and outside his league.
Lambert has also appointed former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland midfielder Roy Keane as his assistant.
Villa as at now are second on the table and are one of three clubs unbeaten in the new season.
