JTF Kills Over 100 Boko Haram insurgents

The Nigerian Army has announced that over 100 members of the Boko Haram sect were killed yesterday when the military Joint Task Force, JTF engaged the group in a three hours battle.

A statement signed by Colonel T. Antigha, Army Public Relations Officer said four Nigerian soldiers were injured in the confrontation.

“After about three hours of fierce fighting, Nigerian troops routed the Boko Haram fighting force of over a hundred terrorists.

“Further to the staggering loss of men, Boko Haram also suffered extensive losses in equipment.

“Four Nigerian soldiers were wounded in action. The entire area is still being combed

for terrorists who may have escaped with bullet wounds. Morale of troops remains very high,” the statement read in part.

Some of the equipments and military hardware recovered from the rebels include: three Hilux vans and a Buffalo vehicle with anti-aircraft guns, three general purpose machine guns and about 30 AK 47 rifles.

The insurgents have recently intensified their campaign in the troubled states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. They have even hoisted their flag in some parts of Borno which they declared as their Caliphate.
