One of the stories making the rounds on the postponement of the February 16 presidential and National Assembly elections is that there was a mix-up of materials sent to some states by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In the case of Osun State for instance, cartons of what were meant to be election materials delivered to the state were alleged to have contained calendars.

But Stephen Ojewande, head, Voters Education/Publicity, INEC in the state told the magazine that such information is far from the truth and exists only at the realm of rumours and should not be taken seriously. However, a source at the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Osogbo, the state capital said the real issue lies with the supply of sensitive electoral materials, which were said to be grossly inadequate and could not have gone round nor met the requirements for a credible election.
