Following the crisis in the health sector, the National Industrial Court of Nigerian, NICN, has adjourned the case between the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, MDCAN, and the Federal Ministry of Health till October 13, 2014.

However, Joint Health Sector Union, JOHESU and the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations, AHPA, have filed applications seeking to be joined in the suit, while the Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Labour and the Attorney General of the Federation have also filed their respective memorandum of appearance on the case.

In the meantime, the restraining order against the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour and the AGF continues to subsist until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

It would be recalled that few weeks ago, the MDCAN dragged the Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity and the Attorney-General of the Federation before the NICN over an agreement they signed with JOHESU and AHPA at the end of a meeting on June 5.

The court in its ruling on June 27 issued an order of interim injunction restraining the defendants/respondents, either by themselves or by their agents, servants, agencies, privies or by any group or organization acting for them from implementing, executing, carrying out or giving effect to the decisions, resolution and agreements that were reached at the meeting that was held in Abuja.
