President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the historic victory of the Super Falcons, revealing his personal reaction to the intense match and showering the team with unprecedented national rewards.

In a candid remark that went viral on social media, Tinubu said:

“I didn’t want to watch the match initially because I don’t want high blood pressure. My wife was cooking my food in the kitchen, rushed out to tell me we have won.”

The president’s statement struck a chord with many Nigerians who also admitted to being too nervous to watch the thrilling game in real time. But beyond the laughter his comment generated, Tinubu backed up his admiration for the team with tangible action.

In recognition of the Super Falcons’ incredible achievement, President Tinubu has conferred national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 players. He also awarded each of them a three-bedroom apartment and $100,000 in cash.

Additionally, each member of the team’s technical crew received $50,000, honoring their strategic brilliance and dedication throughout the competition.

This monumental gesture marks one of the most generous rewards ever given to a Nigerian women’s football team and is being hailed as a milestone for gender equality in sports recognition.

Nigerians across the globe have applauded the president’s decision, saying it not only acknowledges the team’s victory but also sends a powerful message about valuing female athletes on par with their male counterparts.

As the Super Falcons continue to make history on the pitch, their latest victory and the national celebration it sparked will be remembered for years to come.
