The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has asked his critics who have refused to acknowledge the projects his government was executing in the state to ‘go and die.’

The governor was responding to criticisms that he was concentrating his projects in the two urban local government areas of Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor. “If you don’t like good things then go and die,” he declared.

He also commanded blindness to afflict people who said they were not seeing his projects. “Some people; God gave them eyes but they say they would not see. Since God gave them eyes and they say they would not see. May you not see throughout your lives,” he added.

The governor warned street traders and bureau de change operators to stay away from the roads he had just inaugurated. “Let me warn. Some of you who have abandoned where there is market; let me warn some of you say you are bureau de change people. Nobody must trade along these roads. I am going to set up a task force to make sure that those of you who bring your umbrellas outside here, you cannot do it again. Enough is enough.

“Look at the kind of roads we have done then you allow traders to take over the roads. Is that possible? If you are saying that because of these roads then you are hungry, then already you have decided to be hungry,” the governor said.

He directed local government chairmen to also commission projects in their respective areas so that they could be Mr. Projects in their local areas.

He challenged his critics to go to the local government areas to see the projects that he was executing. He specifically mentioned the 16-kilometre Sakpenwa – Bori dualised road, which he said he will extend by another 20 kilometres to Kono; the Andoni – Opobo Unity road and the Abonnema Ring Road as projects that he has done, which deserved to be acknowledged.
