FIFA has imposed a worldwide life ban on Yaroslav Dmitriev, a Russian player implicated in fixing Estonian top-division matches. FIFA says it expelled Dmitriev from all football activities and the Estonian Football Association bans for 12 other players up to six months during an ongoing investigation. FIFA says the case alleges fixing in 2011, when Dmitriev played in the top tier for Ajax Lasnamae.
In other sanctions by FIFA’s disciplinary committee, two players from Slovakia had long-term domestic suspensions extended globally. FIFA says Ivan Hodur was banned for 11 years for fixing club friendly matches in 2011. The former Slovakia international was already serving a 14-year sanction for helping fix top-tier league matches. Robert Rak is banned for 15 years for fixing friendlies.
