A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to narrate a harrowing experience involving operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who allegedly raided her home and surrounding neighborhood in the early hours of the morning.

In a now-viral post on X (formerly Twitter), the woman said the EFCC stormed their residence around 4:00 AM, forcefully broke down their doors, and subjected her family to an invasive search.

“EFCC attacked my family and our neighborhood this morning around 4AM. They broke our doors, checked my husband’s phone. After finding nothing, they apologized,” she wrote, accompanied by emojis expressing shock and distress.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians questioning the legality and conduct of EFCC’s operations. Critics argue that such aggressive, unannounced midnight raids—especially when carried out without a warrant or prior suspicion—are a violation of citizens’ fundamental rights.

Social media users have flooded the comment section with calls for accountability and reform, demanding that the EFCC adopt more transparent and lawful methods in its anti-corruption drive.

As of the time of this report, the EFCC has not issued an official response regarding the allegation.

This latest development adds to growing concerns about how anti-graft operations are conducted in Nigeria—raising important questions about due process, the protection of innocent citizens, and the urgent need for oversight in law enforcement practices.
