The federal government has distributed relief materials to people who were displaced in Yobe State by insurgents. According to a statement issued the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, on Sunday, over 115, 000 persons benefited from the items worth N500 million.
The aid work was carried out by the Presidential Committee on relief procurement and distribution, the statement also stated. It was part of the N1.5 billion federal government approved funds for the special committee.
Muhammad Sani-Sidi, Director General of NEMA and chairman of the distribution committee while presenting the materials in Damaturu, the state capital said the items were considered as basic needs of the victims.
On his part, Abdu Bulama, Minister of Science and Technology and coordinator of the distribution exercise said that it was part of President Goodluck Jonathan’s effort at fighting terrorism in the troubled Northeastern Nigeria.
