Femi Gbadebo, retired Air Vice Marshall and Chairman/CEO of Benola Cerebral Palsy initiative has urged the media in Nigeria to join in the campaign and awareness for cerebral palsy.
This was disclosed in his presentation at a business lunch with health editors held as part of activities to mark the second Benola day celebration held in Peninsula Hotel and Suites, Lekki, Lagos on Tuesday, June 10.
At the event, Gbadebo disclosed that there was the need for the media’s full support for the awareness of cerebral palsy in Nigeria.
He said over 700,000 children live with cerebral palsy in Nigeria. “We are working on getting policies for children living with cerebral palsy in Nigeria and making sure such policies are implemented. We are also working on creating a documentary and doing jingles for media houses,” Gbadebo added.
He also disclosed that every year Benola supports at least two institutions for the physically challenged.
