COVID-19: Aniagwu, 21 Others Discharged in Delta

The Delta State Information commissioner, Charles Aniagwu who recently tested positive to COVID-19 and consequently went into isolation, has been discharged. The state government announced on Tuesday that Aniagwu and 21 other persons were discharged from Isolation Centre where they were treated. However, the government said the final test result for Chiedu Ebie, secretary to the state government, SSG, who was admitted into the isolation centre same day with Aniagwu, was still being awaited.

Their discharge on Tuesday, according to a statement by Olisa Ifeajika, chief press secretary to the governor, was effected after they tested negative for the virus following long periods of isolation and treatment. Ifeajika said Aniagwu and the 21 others were discharged from various treatment centres across the state. Recall that Aniagwu and Ebie tested positive for the coronavirus on June 20, 2020.

The chief press secretary who had tested negative for the virus, reiterated government’s appeal to Deltans to support its efforts at curbing the spread of the pandemic by complying with the protocols prescribed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), stressing that “COVID-19 is real and a serious health challenge”.
