Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company is the company that handled the construction of the collapsed six-storey building belonging to the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, the church’s lawyer told the coroner inquest probing the cause of the building collapse on Wednesday.
The church had previously refused to furnish the coroner with the name of the contractor handling the building of the guesthouse that collapsed on September 12, killing about 115 worshipers, mostly South Africans.
Meanwhile, the A.O. Komolafe led coroner could not continue further hearing on the matter on Wednesday due to a pending application in a Lagos State High Court.
Temitope Joshua, the Founder and general overseer of SCOAN speaking through his counsel, Olalekan Ojo, informed the court shortly after resumption of the day’s hearing of a pending application before Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Lagos High Court, Ikeja.
Ojo says Joshua is asking for a judicial review of the coroner’s proceedings.
Joshua who has severally refused to appear before the coroner even after he was served notices of invitation, also prayed the court to stand down the invitation served on him to appear before the coroner pending the outcome of the application before Justice Okunnu.
Ojo also told the court that he had just served the application on the Lagos State government while, he was yet to serve it on all other necessary parties and would need more time to enable them reply to it appropriately.
“The motion is not ripe for hearing having not been served on all the relevant parties. It is our position that it is pending but not ripe for arguments,” Ojo stated.
In that regard, Femi Adamson, Counsel to the state government confirmed to the court that he had only received the application; and needed time to file a response to it.
Komolafe therefore apologised to the parties present in court adding that it would not be proper to dispense with the application while asking Ojo to serve it on all the parties before the next sitting.
Following the development, the Coroner adjourned sitting till December 5.Follow Us on Social Media
