No fewer than 13 people have died while another 40 were injured when a twin explosion hit a commercial bank in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Friday.
Sources say the blast occurred occurred at the Automated Teller Machine of the bank as customers were queuing to make withdrawals at about 9am on Friday.
Eyewitnesses said two men walked up to the ATM and pretended to be queuing to withdraw money. They were said to have dropped an object and shortly after an explosion followed.
As people hurried to assist the victims, another blast rocked the area, killing higher number of people.
TELL learnt that most of the people affected are Bauchi State workers, who were waiting to collect their salaries.
Friday’s incident followed a similar one two weeks ago when a blast at a motor park claimed 12 lives, injuring 46 others.
