The Nigerian Army in Abuja on Monday announced that it killed 18 persons suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect while troops retrieved weapons and aborted attacks on the outskirts of Bama and Ngurosoye, Borno State.
Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, Director of Defence Information and coordinator, Joint Information Centre Counter Terrorism Campaign, said the terrorists were killed during a military patrol over the weekend.
He said troops dislodged some terrorists who were about to attack some settlements and in the fracas, 16 AK 47 rifles were recovered.
He said the troops also destroyed five pick-up vehicles, 7 Golf cars and one Hilux truck. “A total of 75 villagers were screened and released in the course of cordon and search in the adjourning communities,” he said
Olukolade further said that 16 AK 47 rifles were also recovered in the course of cordon and search of communities, adding that mope up operations were ongoing on Mandara Mountains and Haraza hills.Follow Us on Social Media
