Principals of 778 secondary schools across Adamawa State have unanimously endorsed Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the acting governor, in the forthcoming October 11 by-election in the state.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by Solomon Kumangar, press secretary to the acting governor.
According to the statement, the school principals arrived at the decision at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting with the acting governor.
Kumangar explained that the principals’ decision to support Fintiri was premised on his ability to make a clean break from the past, as evidenced by the recent improvement in teachers’ welfare.
The statement said the acting governor promised that his government would continue to identify with the aspirations of the Adamawa people and would never let them down or take them back to the inglorious past.
Stakeholders at the meeting included the Speaker and members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, former legislators, former and serving commissioners, special advisers, past and present local government chairmen. Fintiri is the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the coming elections.
