The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested six suspected Internet fraudsters in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The arrest, which was carried out at the Kolapo Ishola Estate residence of the suspects in the Akobo area of the city, followed series of petitions written by residents of the community, detailing the alleged illegal activities of the gang.
Names of the suspects were given as Tella Adefemi Ibrahim, Awoniyi Adeseye Abiodun, Oladele Olawale Wasiu, Olabiti Afeez Ajibola, Akeredolu Oluwafemi Temidayo and Oyaremi Olalekan Olabode. The suspects are between the ages of 20 and 30 years.
Reports indicate that the suspects were deeply involved in fraudulent activities, including love scams and different forms of Internet fraud, through which they obtained money from unsuspecting victims by false pretence.
Items recovered from the suspects included five different models of exotic cars, laptops, mobile phones, and several documents on which they allegedly made false representations.
