The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has confirmed Equatorial Guinea as hosts for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

CAF selected a replacement for Morocco after rejecting the North African country’s request to shift the tournament to 2016 due to fears over the Ebola Virus Disease.

CAF subsequently expelled Morocco from the tournament, which will now be held in Equatorial Guinea, the country that co-hosted the 2012 Nations Cup with Gabon.

Equatorial Guinea will now take on the sole responsibility for holding the 16-team event, despite having only two major stadiums in the capital Malabo and Bata.

It is not clear whether the new hosts will be able to play in the tournament because the team was disqualified in July for fielding an ineligible player in a preliminary qualifier against Mauritania on May 17.
