Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has created two new offices that may coordinate activities in new directions that the Rivers State Government may be charting.
The offices are those of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House and Special Adviser on Aviation matters.
A statement issued on Monday by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, was silent on appointments to the new offices.
The statement said, “To ensure activities are functioning efficiently and effectively, the Governor of Rivers State has announced the creation of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt.
“The Deputy Chief of Staff will be in charge of the Logistics, Correspondence of the Governor and Legal Matters.
“Similarly, he has also announced the creation of the Office of the Special Adviser on Aviation.”
Wike has of recent initiated a series of cases seeking judicial interpretation of Constitutional provisions like laws on which tier of government should collect VAT, which have had far-reaching effects on the economy.
Though the government has not made public statements about a desire to invest in aviation, the state is one of the busiest destinations for commercial and chartered flights especially in the oil and gas industry.
