A suspect was taken into custody in connection with the mailing of pipe bombs, the U.S. Department of Justice said on Friday. The announcement came shortly after two new suspicious packages, one addressed to Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., another to the former director of national intelligence James Clapper, were intercepted by authorities in Florida and New York City.
Meanwhile, President Trump, announcing the arrest of a suspect in connection to the suspicious packages, called the mailed explosive devices “terrorizing acts.”
He added: “We must never allow political violence to take root in America. Cannot let it happen. I’m committed to doing everything in my power as President to stop it. To stop it now. Stop it now.”
