The Church of England has consecrated its first female bishop at a ceremony held in York Minster on Monday.
The new female bishop, Libby Lane, 48, has been ordained the new Bishop of Stockport in a ceremony that was attended by more than 1,000 people.
The Church formally adopted legislation last November to ordain women bishops, in a move which brought an end to centuries-old tradition of exclusively male bishops.
