He was a man of many parts. Apart from being an editor, a publisher, a financial expert, an estate investor, he was also a player in the aviation sector. By the time he breathed his last on Thursday September 16, 2021, he had sat on the board of a chain of companies, both here in Nigeria and abroad.

Abdulazeez Ude was a billionaire of note and a philanthropist. He had his early education at the College of Immaculate Conception, Enugu before going to Oxford in England, and Columbia in the United States of America.

Ude, who worked as an editor with Doubleday, a US-based publishing house, founded Nok Publishers with offices in the United States and Nigeria. He ran companies like Tanhigh Holdings Ltd, Tanhigh Finance Ltd, 150 Estates Nigeria Ltd, and Trans-Sahel Airlines Ltd. He also participated in giving financial backing to many companies, including publishing houses like Newswatch Publications, the Classy Chic, published by Eddie Iroh, and Tell Communications Ltd.

Born in 1940, he died about three weeks shy of his 81st birthday that would have been held on September 30 this year. He had awards and chieftaincy titles to his credit. He was Ebube Ndi Muslim of Igbo land.

Alhaji Ude got that as a foremost Muslim in an environment where the practice of Islam is not as popular as obtained in other parts of the country like the north and the southwest areas. He was also the Boroji [man of wealth] of Lagos, while he got another title in Ikorodu, Lagos State. He was buried on Friday, September 17, 2021 in Abor, Udi local government area of Enugu State.
