A Nigerian hotelier has gone viral after revealing how his decision to convert his struggling hotel business into a brothel (locally called “Ashawo Kota”) revived his finances but destroyed his marriage and family.

He said a friend advised him to convert the hotel into a commercial sex hub, an idea he reluctantly accepted. To his surprise, over 70 young women showed up for interviews. Instead of starting with 10 as planned, he recruited 20 and business immediately boomed.

“Sometimes after daily expenses, I made over ₦300,000 in just one day,” he revealed, adding that food, drinks, and entertainment sales also skyrocketed as men trooped in from across Lagos.

But his success came at a heavy cost. His wife refused to accept any money made from the brothel business, insisting it was immoral. She later reported him to her family elders, presenting him with two options:

  1. Shut down the brothel and reunite with his family, or
  2. Continue the business but lose them forever.

The hotelier chose the second option, keeping the business but losing his wife and children permanently.

“I looked at the money coming in – no oil well gives ₦300,000 profit daily. I told them I couldn’t shut it down. That’s how I lost my family,” he said.

The man now admits that while the venture made him financially stable, it left his personal life in ruins. He warned other men to think carefully before prioritizing money over family values.

The story has triggered heated debates on social media, with many condemning him for choosing wealth over his family, while others argue he only did what he had to do for survival.
