A non-governmental organization, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has asked the Financial Action Task Force, FATF to probe the admission by the Federal Government of Nigeria that it hired a private jet to convey $9.3 million in cash to procure arms from South Africa.

In a petition dated September 19 and addressed to FATF President, Roger Wilkins by SERAP’s executive director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, the organisation implored Wilkins to consider the admission in the light of FATF standards on transportation of cash across borders and apply appropriate sanctions and measures to deter this practice in the future.
