Popular actress Iyabo Ojo is trending once again on social media after controversial activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) released a 12-minute video detailing what he describes as an orchestrated plan to frame Nigerian artist Naira Marley for the tragic death of rising star Mohbad.
According to VDM, shortly after Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, a WhatsApp group titled “Concerned Citizens” was created. The group allegedly included high-profile celebrities and influencers such as Iyabo Ojo, Samklef, Tonto Dikeh, Jigan, Oba Ksolo, Aloma (Davido’s associate), Gistlover, Drey (Davido’s publicist), and others.
VDM claimed that the group’s initial goal was supposedly to seek justice for Mohbad. However, he now alleges that they were more focused on pushing the narrative that Naira Marley was responsible for Imole’s death, even though Marley was out of the country at the time.
The activist also revealed that his call for a DNA test for Mohbad’s son Liam following online allegations about possible infidelity sparked outrage within the group. He accused the members of trying to suppress this narrative and went as far as claiming that his nude photos were leaked to Gistlover from the same WhatsApp group as a form of blackmail.
VDM said when the blackmail failed, they sponsored blogs to label him as a government and Naira Marley tool, lumping him with Reno Omokri, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo, and a Lagos-based lawyer, all of whom had been skeptical of the narrative being pushed by the “Concerned Citizens” group.
Screenshots allegedly from the group chat showed Drey stating:
“Davido is following him, but he can’t stop him from getting arrested. Let’s do our part and he’ll be picked up.”
Iyabo Ojo allegedly responded:
“Na Davido dey encourage the guy.”
Samklef reportedly added:
“The guy is doing too much. Who is sponsoring him, Kemi and Reno?”
Other members like Jigan and Aloma DMW suggested that the Nigerian government and Naira Marley’s camp were backing VDM.
VDM was eventually arrested in March for cyberbullying and defamation, but he claimed this was part of the same conspiracy to silence him.
Interestingly, Samklef has confirmed that the group exists but insists it was not a secret and that VDM is “manipulating gullible followers.” He challenged VDM to post clear proof that any group member tried to obstruct justice for Mohbad.
VDM, however, insists that Drey knows more about what truly happened to Mohbad and vowed to release part two with more screenshots, audios, and “evidence.”
As the controversy continues to escalate, fans are divided—some demanding full transparency, others pleading for the memory of Mohbad (Imole) to be respected and allowed to rest in peace.
