There was in London on Tuesday to mark the first year anniversary of the abduction of Dapchi Schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu by Boko Haram terrorists.
The protest was by Christian Support Worldwide, CSW led by a former aide of President Goodluck Jonathan, author pastor, Reno Omokri.
According to the , the protest was to remind the world of the failure of the federal government to secure Leah’s release despite promises to do so. The London protesters called Leah’s mother, Rebecca, and assured her that they stood with her in her low moments.
Mervyn Thomas, the group’s founder and chief executive, during the protest said they would keep vigil at the commission’s premises.
Omokri told the protesters that it was sad that one whole year after the schoolgirl was abducted the federal government had been unable to secure her release.
Although a human rights activist, Ikeazor Akaraiwe has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over the continued incarceration of Leah and others in Boko Haram captivity the letter was to no avail.
“Mr. President, you swore to uphold our constitution. Mr. President, give a 100 men in exchange for her life if need be but do not allow her in captivity. And if she is dead, do let us know, so we may mourn her.”
Meanwhile, Leah’s Father, Nathan Sharibu on Tuesday, February 19 in a telephone conversation had expressed displeasure that the Federal Government has abandoned him and the rescue of his daughter from Boko Haram’s captivity.
14 year old, Leah Sharibu was kidnapped on the night of February 19, 2018, by Boko Haram terrorists from her school, the Government Girls Science and Technical Secondary School in Dapchi, Yobe State, along with 110 other girls and a schoolboy under a questionable circumstance.
