It is celebration time at the Mind Builders, a Lagos-based secondary school, which recorded a rare feat in the last West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE The school recorded 100%, beating other schools that participated in the exercise hands down. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the graduating students who scored distinction in almost all their subjects. It was a whole lot of the students and their parents who proudly graced the occasion as the Mind Builders Management Board decorated the students with awards. They deserve the honour, and the school, grateful for the efforts to put their name on the regional hall of fame, gave them the toast in appreciation and to also motivate those they left behind that excellence would not go without recognition.

The students that are left behind also watched the graduating students as they were cheered repeatedly while they received awards. Their seniors had beaten the records, and that in a year when the regional general score was 62.96% of candidates, who had credit passes in English and Mathematics, resulting in a drop from what obtained in 2024.

So, the record of distinctions at Mind Builders justified the free flow of food and wine during the celebration. The school management proudly showcased the secret of the success with the theme: Tech Drives: Shaping the Future of Learning. And that clearly rhymes with the motto of the school: Building Your Child for Tomorrow’s Challenges.

Mrs. Bolajoko Falore, executive director of the school established the nexus when she said, “Since our humble beginnings in 1998, we have been guided by our motto: Building Your Child for Tomorrow’s Challenges. Mind Builders School has not only upheld this vision, it has also grown into a reputable institution with outstanding achievements locally and internationally. Each of our three annexes in Ikeja, Lagos, speaks to excellence in all ramifications.”

The executive director highlighted Mind Builders’ significant contributions to Nigeria’s education landscape as including delivering strong academic foundation and strong moral instruction to nurture future leaders; producing graduates with distinctions who are excelling in top universities and global industries; as well as establishing a sustainable model for private schools’ growth and educational innovation.

She said that stringent management of resources, commitment of staff and the grace of God have served the school in the efforts to successfully navigate the economic travails currently experienced by all sectors in the country.

In the face of the economic downturn, Mrs. Falore proudly said, “Our string of successes speaks volumes about the strength of our foundation, and the collective will of our leadership, staff, and parents to uphold the excellence Mind Builders is renowned.”. To assure parents that the management of the school would not rest on its oars, Mrs. Falore told her audience , “As we reflect on the academic year gone by, we are filled with profound gratitude to God for: our dedicated teachers and staff who continue to inspire and shape young minds with unwavering passion; our resilient students who strive for excellence in academics, character and creativity; our ever-supportive parents whose partnership remains central to the success of our vision.”

Chairman of the event, Mr. Sesan Obe, CEO of the Center Base Consult Limited, encouraged the graduating students to see their achievements as the foundation for a greater tomorrow.

He told them that as they continue their journey, they will require five building blocks on which success is rested.  These include distinctive vision, discipline, courage, service, faith, self-belief, absolute faith in God and His supremacy in all things and circumstances. According to him, “Greatness is not about the size of your name but the strength of your character. It is not about how loud your voice is but how deep your values are.”

Reminding them that “greatness is not a destination, it’s a journey”, Obe charged the students: “Go out and be great. Not just in title, but in impact. Build something that will outlive you-a legacy of excellence, kindness, service, and strength.”
