LASTMA Gives Conditions for the Release of Seized Vehicles During the Lockdown in Lagos State

In reaction of the order by Lagos State Government, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the release of all sized vehicles, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASTMA, on Thursday 16th April, 2020 through the general manager Oduyoye Olajide has given some conditions before the vehicles can be released to the owners.
The conditions stated by LASTMA for the release of the impounded vehicles are:
1. Only impounded vehicles on minor offences during the lockdown will be released to the owners.
2. The impounded vehicles will be released to the owners after the lockdown has be relaxed by the government.
3. The vehicles will be released to the owners free of charge.
Recall that on Wednesday 15th April 2020 during a press briefing on the coronavirus known as covid 19 by the Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that the VIO, LASTMA, the Nigeria Police and other security agencies should release vehicles in their custody to the owners based on minor offence.

Olajide, however emphasized that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State was specific about minor offences committed during the lockdown and did not cover vehicles with capital offence.
