The political crisis in Kogi State turned a new face on Thursday as members of the State House of Assembly impeached Jimoh Lawal, the speaker of eh House. He was impeached alongside Ali Akuh his deputy speaker, and Hassan Bello minority leader.
Seventeen of the 25 lawmakers present supported the motion to impeach the affected principal officers.
In the meantime, Godwin Ojo, a member of the House has been elected, as the new speaker, while John Abah and Elechi Linus, will act as deputy speaker, and minority leader, respectively.
However, Lawal has insisted that he has not been impeached.
