Two suspects who plotted the kidnap of their bosses in a cement company in Okpella, Edo State, are now in police net and would soon be arraigned.
The suspects, Obi Bright, and Favour Ede, according to sources in Edo State Police Command, allegedly connived with a gang of kidnappers in Kogi State to abduct for ransom, their bosses, Uche Dimgba, and Ekuweme Chukweka who were their supervisors.
Their linksman however had a change of heart and reported the sinister plan to soldiers in charge of security at the company because of the generosity of the potential victims.
According to the source, “Obi and Ede had concluded plan to kidnap the two senior officers working with them in the same company.
“One of the suspects, Obi, urged Ede to join the plan and help him secure the services of kidnappers who reside in Kogi State to abduct Dimgba and Ekuweme.
“The suspects then contacted a man that would take them to the kidnappers in Kogi State for the operation. But, the middle man changed his mind in the final moment and revealed the plan to soldiers guiding the cement company describing Dimgba and Chukwuka as generous and kind”.
TELL gathered that the soliders alerted the police of the plan, who told the link man to play along. However, the soldiers reportedly swooped on the suspects 24 hours before execution of the plot and handed them over to the police who transfered them to the Edo State Command of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Units.
Confirming the arrest of the duo, the public relations officer of the State Police Command, Kontongs Bello, superintendent of police, SP said they would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
Kontongs cautioned other criminals in the state to desist from crimes warning that there is no place for them to carry out their nefarious acts.
