Despite the heavy deployment of soldiers, police, and even security dogs in Osogbo, Osun State and other parts of the state, residents have vowed to go out en masse to vote on Saturday, August 9.
“We are not afraid of them. We know they want to create fear, but it won’t work here,” said a commercial motorcyclist in Osogbo who simply identified himself as Femi.
Residents are busy going about their normal activities while heavily armed soldiers are seen at different corners of the state.
Security agents have also mounted several checkpoints in the state where buses and cars are searched from Ode-Omu to Osogbo while more troops were seen still moving into the state as at Wednesday morning.
There were dozens of soldiers stationed at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP secretariat while none was seen at the secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Party, APC in the state capital.
