Gunmen Abduct Eight More Girls In Borno

Eight more girls have been abducted in Maiduguri, Borno State by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect.

The girls ranging from age 12 to 15 were said to have been kidnapped during an overnight raid in a village near one of their strongholds.

Lazarus Musa, a resident of Warabe where the attack took place, said the gun toting men came in two cars. “They were many and all of them carried guns. They came in two vehicles painted in army color. They started shooting in our village,” Musa said.

A police source, who spoke under anonymity, said the girls were taken away in trucks, along with looted livestock and food.

The Islamist rebels are believed to still be holding over 200 girls they kidnapped from Girls Government Secondary School in Chibok town on April 14.
