Babangida Aliyu, Niger State governor has said that in all things, God has used President Goodluck Jonathan to unite Nigeria.
Aliyu also said that one thing that looks elusive to many people is that President Jonathan’s coming has united all Nigerian governors at a time some people were trying to make the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP constitution superior to the Nigerian constitution.
He made the statement this Saturday in Minna, the Niger State capital at a rally organised by the Transformation Agenda of Nigeria, TAN a civil society organization and broadcasted live by some national televisions.
“What you might not understand is that his coming united all the governors when some people wanted to make PDP constitution superior to Nigerian constitution. The governors said no, Nigerian constitution is superior,” Aliyu said.
He added that though TAN members may be members of the PDP, he simply identified them as friends and lovers of President Jonathan while commending them for showcasing what the PDP led government has done across the country. “In every thing, God has used Jonathan to unite Nigeria and to put Nigeria as a united country,” he said.
Governor Aliyu frowned at those, he said, are using the “instrumentality of insecurity” in some parts of the country to distract the Jonathan led federal government, saying that insecurity is everybody’s responsibility.
Announcing the breakdown of 1,126, 885 signatures of endorsement for President Jonathan’s reelection collated from the North Central geo-political zone, Anyim Pius Anyim, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, said the signatures were not from PDP members alone, but cuts across all political parties and civil groups in Nigeria.
In his vote of thanks, Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information, thanked the organisers and chief host, Governor Aliyu, for drumming up support for Jonathan’s reelection.
