FRSC to Sanction Erring Officers

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has warned that it would sanction any of its officers found culpable in the issuance of fake drivers’ license.

Charles Akpabio, zonal commanding officer, Zone RS5, in charge of Edo, Delta and Anambra states disclosed this at the decoration ceremony of six newly promoted officers of the corps at the command’s headquarters in Benin, Edo State.

Akpabio, who decried the prevalence of fake driving licenses among motorists, stated that the command was not ignorant of connivance by insiders in the corps, in the whole network of fake license racketeering.

While describing the situation as criminal and an act of sabotage, he assured that the command would not hesitate to sanction any officer or marshal caught in the act. “And I am using this medium to sound a note of warning to marshals and officers to desist from this act as it is criminal and an act of sabotage,” he said.

Akpabio also stated that five more centers would be opened soon for license processing in order to augment the existing centers and save motorists the risk of patronizing illegal issuers.

“Some of the victims of fake driving licensing have attributed it to the limited number of centers. So to avoid and cut off these activities of quacks, we advise motorists to go to these centers and insist on doing the right thing to get genuine driving license and not through a third party,” he added.

Akpabio urged the newly promoted officers to be more dedicated to their duties, especially in this yuletide season, when the roads usually experience heavy traffic.
