Four people have been killed in a protest in the Democratic Republic of Congo over fears that President Joseph Kabila is seeking to extend his 14-year rule by postponing next year’s elections.
The protests, which began on Monday after clashes between opposition supporters and security forces resulted in fatal casualties, continued today in the capital,Kinshasa.
The protesters claim that the government plans to carry out census as a ploy to delay elections.
The government has admitted that the polls could be delayed, but insists that the census was needed to ensure free and fair elections.
