Oby Ezekwesili, former minister of Education and leader of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign oragnisation, has described Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as one who “will be remembered upon successful completion of the 2015 elections as the Nigerian that fixed the opaqueness of the country’s electoral system.”
The former education minister took to her twitter page to commend the efforts of the INEC chairman. She also laid emphasis on the importance of card readers and Permanent Voters’ Card, PVC to the forthcoming elections.
“Citizens’ confidence in the elections umpire can determine the percentage of registered voters that turn up to vote. Jega scores high here,” Ezekwesili stated. “Anyone determined to rig Jega and the PVC/CardReader out of the 2015 elections should be regarded as an enemy of transparent elections,” she said in another tweet adding that
one of the best electoral system reforms ever recorded in Africa is the adoption of Permanent Voters Card (PVC)/Card Reader.
She urged Nigerians to celebrate the development and not to “lampoon” it.
Her hashtag, “No to Enemies of Transparent Elections” is continuously being retweeted by many twitter users.Follow Us on Social Media
