An Enugu-based architect and property developer, John Emejulu, has had his duplex located in the Trans-Ekulu area of Enugu demolished on the orders of Enugu State Government after the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, vowed to deal with the man for daring to pull down a portion of the fence of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

And on Friday, the Enugu State Government moved an excavator to the residence of Emejulu and pulled down the mansion under a full coverage by the Enugu Government House press corps.

The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, who visited the airport on Thursday to inspect work on the rehabilitation of the airport, threatened to use the federal might to deal with Emejulu for destroying a national security asset.

He said, “It is a wrong time to test our resolve. The individual will certainly be dealt with maximally without recourse. I am sure he will regret doing this and of course this is also an opportunity for government to show that no one can take the law into his hands and willfully destroy national asset belonging to 200 million of all of us.

“This will certainly be the end of this kind of recklessness. We will not forgive him. The Chief of Air Staff, the Inspector General of Police, the Director General, DSS, others, will be directed to do the needful and bring him to book, so that anybody who would contemplate doing something like this in future will have a rethink.”

Emejulu, who was said to have a dispute with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria over a section of the land converted for the airport, had moved a bulldozer to the new fence erected by FAAN over the disputed portion of land and pulled it down.

But the minister, who also visited the governor to complain, did not take lightly to the development. No reaction has been received from Emejulu.
