Following the orders of Ayo Daramola, Ekiti State Chief Judge, all courts in the state have been shut down indefinitely. Obafemi Fasanmi, Chief Registrar of the state judiciary, stated this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti. He explained that the decision was taken due to the series of attacks hoodlums had launched on the court premises since Monday.
The chief registrar said the action of the Chief Judge became necessary so as to protect the lives of judges and other judicial officers who were being harassed and assaulted by hooligans on a daily basis. Fasanmi said the date courts will be reopened would be announced later.
