The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC will arraign Tunji Moronfoye, the Kwara State Commissioner for Information, and Ope Saraki, the Senior Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Millennium Development Goals, for their alleged involvement in a N371m contract scam.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the EFCC on Thursday.
The two will be arraigned before a Federal High Court in Ilorin, Kwara State on March 19, 2015
EFCC statement said the offences for which Moronfoye and Saraki would be prosecuted bordered on abuse of office, award of contracts to cronies, embezzlement, diversion of public funds and money laundering.
It added specifically that Moronfoye who was Special Assistant on MDGs during the administration of former Governor Bukola Saraki, allegedly awarded a N200m contract for the renovation of Ijagbo Primary Health Centre and the supply of medical equipment to health centres and specialist hospitals within the state, to a company in which he had interest.
The EFCC further said that the second accused, Saraki, was also alleged to have abused his office and laundered state funds for his personal benefit by awarding inflated contracts to companies owned by his cronies.
It added that Saraki allegedly bought 13 Hiace buses and converted them to ambulances in place of factory-built ambulances for which a contract of N171, 990,000.00 was awarded to Chemiroy Nigeria Limited.
