Edo Election: Results Will Be Uploaded to IReV If There Are No Network Issues
Election results will be transmitted electronically. BVAS will accredit voters to know the total number of voters at each polling unit. We will conduct an election we can truly call our own.
As Edo State gears up for the highly anticipated 2024 elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency through the use of its iREV portal. Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Anugbum Onuoha, assured the public that all election results will be uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (iREV), in real-time, except in areas where network connectivity poses a challenge.
“We are fully prepared to upload the election results to iREV. The only condition where this might not happen immediately is if there’s no network in that location,” Onuoha said.
In previous elections, iREV has been a critical tool in fostering transparency, allowing voters and observers to track election results from any location. Onuoha’s statement highlights the importance of technology in Nigeria’s electoral process, but also reminds voters that certain limitations, like network availability in rural areas, could delay the immediate upload of results.
INEC’s proactive use of iREV is part of ongoing efforts to bolster confidence in the election process, but Onuoha stressed that where there are network challenges, the commission has systems in place to ensure results are eventually uploaded once connectivity is restored.
The people of Edo State remain hopeful for a fair, transparent, and tech-driven electoral process in 2024.
