…Say Five Others Abducted

Edo State Police Command has confirmed that suspected kidnappers Saturday morning at about 6.45 am killed the younger brother of Omoyele Sowore, Felix Olajide, along Benin-Lagos road near Okada, Edo State.

The late younger Sowore, about 50 years old, was a Pharmacy student at Igbinedion University, Okada.

Sowore, Sahara Reporters publisher, politician, and the convener of “Revolution Now” broke the news of his brother’s alleged assassination, on social media.

The Command’s spokesman, Bello Kontongs, in a one-paragraph message sent to journalists, said apart from killing the younger Sowore, the suspected kidnappers made away with five , yet to be identified, persons.

The Police public relations officer, PPRO said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, IUTH morgue.

The message reads:

The distraught Sowore, had in an online statement early Saturday, announced that his “immediate younger brother, Olajide Sowore was today shot and killed near Okada in Edo State by reportedly herdsmen /kidnappers on his way from Igbinedion University in Edo State where he is studying Pharmacy.

“Good morning all. This is to confirm to you that suspected kidnappers at about 0645hrs along Lagos-Benin Expressway by Isuwa kidnapped five unidentified persons and on (sic) the process shot to death one Sowore Felix Olajide male a pharmacy student of Igbinedion University Okada his remains has been deposited at IUTH mortuary Okada while effort is ongoing to rescue the five kidnap victims search and rescue operation is ongoing pls”.

“They snuffed out the life yet another real human being! Rest In Power, “Dr. Mamiye!”

Sowore had in another post mourning his brother, described Jide as selfless and industrious, stating that his demise would leave a void in the prominent Ondo family.

According to him, “You lived your life so that everyone could be alright but now assassinated by everything that’s not alright!”
