Edo 2020: Obaseki’s Board Chairman for Technical Education Resigns

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki has suffered big political blow with the exit of yet another aide from his government. One of his strong allies and influential political leader, Christopher Adesotu has resigned his appointment from the government.

Until his resignation, Adesotu was the chairman of the Board for Technical and Vocational Educaiton. In his letter of resignation dated June 24, 2020, addressed to the governor, Adesotu said he was leaving the government in consideration of his future political aspiration.

In the letter, Adesotu, former chairman, Ovia South-west local government and one-time Commissioner for Education in the present administration, said his resignation was with immediate effect.

He expressed gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to serve in his government. “With profound gratitude, most respectfully, I humbly wish to inform your Excellency, that having deeply consulted with my conscience, family and friends, I wish to inform Mr. Governor of my intention to bow out from the services of the state government. Though the decision is clothed with mixed feelings but the necessity is hinged on my future political aspiration.

“However, without prejudice, this resignation takes immediate effect.”

Adesotu’s resignation brings to three members of the governor’s administration who have resigned within the last few weeks.

It would be recalled that Obaseki’s Chief of Staff, Taiwo Akerele, had in May resigned his appointment stating administratiive reasons.

In a similar manner, his Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Paul Ohonbamu, early this month, resigned his appointment.

In his resignation letter, Ohonbamu said “Without setting a precedent, I have decided to step aside as cabinet member and operate outside‎ it for the general good of Edo State and pursuit of happiness for the citizens”.
