Liberia has imposed a night-time curfew and ordered the quarantine of an entire area of the capital, Monrovia, as part of measures to halt the spread of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease.

President Ellen Sirleaf-Johnson said the curfew would be from 21:00 local time to 06:00, adding that all movement would be blocked in and out of the West Point area.

Meanwhile, three doctors infected with the Ebola Virus in Liberia, but who had started taking the experimental ZMapp drug last week showed remarkable signs of improvement, a Liberian minister said.

Lewis Brown, Information Minister said the drug was administered on one Nigerian and two Liberian doctors who had caught Ebola while helping to save the lives of other victims of the virus.

Sirleaf-Johnson blamed her government’s failure to bring Ebola under control on the public’s disregard for the advice of health workers and disrespect for official warnings.

Earlier this month, Liberia imposed a state of emergency but the number of deaths from the disease has continued to escalate.
