Beginning from Saturday a line of activities will be held in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth 11 who died on Thursday September 8. The events will culminate in the burial on Monday September 19. There was a private service Saturday at Windsor Castle. Saturday afternoon Prince William, and wife, joined his brother Harry at a ceremony in honour of their grandmother. There the royal children viewed floral tributes and acknowledged the people who came to commiserate with them. William had earlier in the day witnessed the proclamation of their father as the new king at St. James Palace. Harry was not at the ceremony witnessed by Prime Minister Liz Truss and her predecessors.
By Sunday September 11 the body leaves the Ballroom at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she died, by road to the Palace of Holyroodhouse at 10:00 am and be at Edinburg at 4:00 pm. She would be taken to St. Giles’ Cathedral on Monday September 12. While at Giles’s Cathedral she would lie at rest till Tuesday September 13.
That day she would be flown to London where her body would be received by Prime Minister Liz Truss with the support of other government officials. As she is welcome back to London, she would be taken to Buckingham Palace, where mourners had converged since the announcement of her demise.
By Wednesday September 14 she would be at the Westminster Abbey for lying-in-state. Britons will have the opportunity to view the royal corpse everyday till Sunday. By Monday September 19, a committal service will be held at St. George’s Chapel, after which she would be buried in Wales close to her husband Prince Philip who died last year.
