Former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma, met behind closed-doors with President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Danjuma, who is currently Chairman of the Boko Haram insurgency Victims Support Fund, was received by the president in a meeting which lasted for about 15 minutes inside the residence at the early hours of the day before Jonathan and his guest moved towards his waiting car.
Addressing reporters who wanted to know the nature and essence of the meeting, Danjuma said he had just returned to the country from a foreign trip and needed to see Jonathan and find out developments in the country.
“Don’t speculate, I came to visit the President and find out how things are going. I have been abroad and just came back,” he said.
Asked if he was ready to support Jonathan’s re-election, Danjuma said, “I cannot canvass votes for anybody because I don’t belong to any political party.”
