A Port Harcourt High Court has declared a former Attorney General of Rivers State, Igo Aguma, as the interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.
Delivering judgment in a case filed by Emenike Enebite, the court presided over by George Omereji, granted all reliefs sought by the plaintiffs including declaring Aguma the chairman of the party.
The court had earlier on ruled that all the APC members that bought forms to participate in the cancelled 2018 Congresses in Rivers State should be allowed to participate in the next congresses without paying for fresh forms whenever congresses come up.
This judgment followed a suit in which one Dele Moses and nine others asked the court to declare them the authentic candidates for APC congresses in Rivers State.
The national leadership of the APC was the defendant in the matter.
The APC in Rivers State had been without a state, local government, and ward officers since 2018 when the Supreme Court nullified the congresses that produced the ward, local government and state executive committees.
For that reason, the party did not produce candidates for the 2019 general elections in Rivers State.
