The drama began when flight attendants spotted K1 drinking from an unmarked flask during boarding. Under Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17 regulations, liquids exceeding 100ml are strictly prohibited unless medically necessary and properly declared. K1 reportedly claimed the drink was medically prescribed but could not provide any documentation.

When asked to surrender the container, the singer allegedly refused and became agitated—eventually pouring the liquid on both an airport officer and the aircraft’s captain. Security immediately intervened and asked him to disembark from the flight.

But the real shock came moments later. In a defiant move, K1 reportedly walked onto the tarmac and stood in front of the aircraft in an attempt to prevent takeoff. The pilot, apparently fed up with the disruption, began taxiing. The aircraft missed K1’s head by mere inches, sparking panic among bystanders and crew.

Following the near disaster, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended both pilots for breaching protocol by continuing taxi procedures despite the threat on the runway. Meanwhile, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is said to be considering placing K1 De Ultimate on a No-Fly List for endangering public safety and violating federal aviation laws.

The incident has triggered widespread debate on social media, with many Nigerians calling for accountability on all sides—while others question the celebrity culture that often puts public figures above the law.

As investigations continue, K1 is yet to issue an official statement. But one thing is clear: what began as a dispute over a drink nearly turned into a national tragedy.
