Celebrating Soyinka Through Arts

Ibikunle Amosun, the Ogun State governor has stressed the need to sustain the ideals, legacies and principles of Wole Soyinka, a professor and literary icon by “passing on the torch to the young ones.”

He said this at the opening ceremony of an 80-day art exhibition and workshop titled, Project WS80 (Wole Soyinka@80) at the Ogun Cultural Center, Kuto, Ogun State.

The event is planned to be a countdown to Soyinka’s birthday on July 13.

The art exhibition was organised by Zmirage Multimedia Limited in conjunction with the Ogun State Ministry of Education and Culture.

Lillian Amah-Aluko, producer, Project WS80 said the objective of the program is to encourage, inspire and empower the youths through arts.

Over 26 artworks on Soyinka were displayed at the exhibition which attracted artists, government officials, art collectors and students.
