The House of Representatives adopted a resolution to suspend Abdulmumin Jibrin, former chairman of House Committee on appropriation early today. Jibrin who has been having a running battle with his colleagues over the allegation of budget padding. He had accused speaker Dogara and some principal officers of the House of complicity in the fraudulent attempt to smuggle into the 2016 budget certain expenses that were not in the original document sent in by the executive. The House rested Jibrin’s suspension on his refusal to appear before its Committee on Ethics to investigate the matter. The legislator perhaps did not expect the verdict because he had boasted that he could not be suspended. Except the House reversed itself Jibrin will remain on suspension for 180 days, which is one legislative year.
